NISSHIN, Japan : Ishan Kishan’s unbeaten 80 helped India beat Sri Lanka by 124 runs in the semi-final of the men’s cricket event at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games on Thursday, setting up a final against Pakistan.
Kishan struck five sixes and four fours in his 46-ball innings as India posted 169-7 at Korogi Sports Park.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi provided India with a quick start, scoring 38 from 21 balls before Sri Lanka’s bowlers restricted the scoring.
Sri Lanka struggled in their reply and were bowled out for 45 as Jasprit Bumrah, Axar Patel and Abhishek Sharma took two wickets each.
India’s 124-run victory secured their place in the gold medal match, where they will face arch-rivals Pakistan.
Pakistan had earlier beaten Bangladesh by six wickets in the other semi-final after their match was reduced to 13 overs per side because of a wet outfield.
The result sets up an India-Pakistan final in the Asian Games men’s cricket competition, with both sides now competing for the gold medal.
