NAGOYA, Japan — Qatar Olympic Committee Secretary-General Jassim bin Rashid Al Buenain praised the country’s shooting team after it won two gold medals in the men’s skeet competition at the Asian Games.
Qatar took gold in both the individual and team events, with Rashid Al Athba winning the individual title and also contributing to the team victory.
Al Buenain said the results reflected the progress of Qatari sport and the shooters’ ability to compete against leading athletes at major international events.
He congratulated the shooters and highlighted Al Athba’s individual gold, while crediting the athletes, coaching and administrative staff and the Qatar Shooting and Archery Federation for their work.
“The two gold medals not only reaffirmed the strength of Qatari shooting but also provided a significant morale boost for all Qatari athletes competing at the Asian Games,” Al Buenain said.
He said he expected Qatar’s athletes to build on the results during the remainder of the Games and achieve further podium finishes.
The two shooting gold medals took Qatar’s Asian Games medal tally to four — two golds, one silver and one bronze. Al Buenain also praised Qatar’s karate athletes for contributing two medals to the country’s campaign.
Qatar will now look to add to its four-medal tally as competition continues across the remaining events at the Asian Games.
