England captain Harry Brook climbed to a career-best fourth in the ICC men’s T20I batting rankings after a prolific home series against Sri Lanka, while Pakistan’s Abrar Ahmed took the top spot among bowlers from Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan.
Brook scored an unbeaten 114 in the opening match in Southampton and finished the three-match series with 170 runs to be named Player of the Series as England completed a 3-0 sweep.
The 26-year-old rose five places in the T20I batting rankings, led by India’s Ishan Kishan. Brook, who is also the world’s top-ranked test batter, climbed three places to 12th in the ODI rankings and could break into the top 10 across all three formats.
Abrar moved to number one in the T20I bowling rankings for the first time, edging Rashid by one rating point after the Afghan leg-spinner’s six-month spell at the top ended.
Abrar is the fifth Pakistan bowler to top the T20I rankings, following Umar Gul, Saeed Ajmal, Imad Wasim and Shahid Afridi.
Brook’s England team mate Jos Buttler scored 172 runs in the series and climbed two places to fifth, one spot behind Brook.
India captain Shreyas Iyer rose seven places to joint-22nd, while England’s Tom Banton jumped 30 places to 60th.
England all-rounder Jamie Overton was among the biggest movers in the bowling rankings, climbing 47 places to a career-best sixth after taking five wickets against Sri Lanka.
Liam Dawson rose 12 places to 11th, while India’s Axar Patel and Ravi Bishnoi moved up 12 places to 15th and five places to 35th respectively. Afghanistan’s Azmatullah Omarzai climbed three places to 49th.
England’s Will Jacks moved up to 58th among bowlers and third in the all-rounders’ rankings.
In the ODI batting rankings, Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza climbed five places to 24th after scores of 45 and an unbeaten 81 in the final two matches of his team’s three-match home series against Australia.
Australia’s Josh Inglis rose 11 places to 30th, while Zimbabwe’s Craig Ervine moved up seven places to 65th and Jacks climbed two places to 77th.
Australia fast bowler Nathan Ellis moved three places to a career-best 17th among ODI bowlers after taking nine wickets against Zimbabwe.
Sri Lanka seamer Asitha Fernando climbed from 39th to 30th after taking 3-53 in the opening match of his team’s ODI series against England in Chester-le-Street.
