DOHA : The Qatar Basketball Federation has announced the schedule for the 2026-27 Men’s General League Championship, with nine clubs set to compete for the title from Oct. 10.
Al Khor, Al Rayyan, Qatar, Al Sadd, Al Gharafa, Al Ahli, Al Shamal, Al Wakrah and Al Arabi will contest the first round, which will run until Nov. 9.
The opening phase will be played in a single-round league format, with 36 matches across nine rounds at Al Gharafa and Al Rayyan arenas. The competition will then move to a knockout stage to determine the champion.
Al Arabi enter the season as three-time defending champions and have won 11 General League titles. Al Rayyan are the most successful club in the competition’s history with 18 titles, followed by Qatar with seven.
Al Sadd, Al Gharafa, Al Shamal and the former Army Club have each won the competition twice, while Al Ahli have one title, secured in the 2000-01 season.
Al Rayyan and Al Khor will open the campaign at Al Gharafa Arena on Oct. 10, followed by Al Sadd against Qatar. The opening round continues on Oct. 12 with Al Gharafa facing Al Ahli and Al Wakrah taking on Al Shamal, while Al Arabi have a bye.
The remaining rounds will be played through November, with clubs rotating byes in the nine-team format.
Round Two is scheduled for Oct. 14-15, followed by Round Three on Oct. 17 and 19. Rounds Four and Five will take place on Oct. 21-22 and Oct. 24-26 respectively, with the final four rounds scheduled between Oct. 28 and Nov. 9.
The league will conclude its first phase with Qatar facing Al Rayyan and Al Khor meeting Al Arabi on Nov. 9, while Al Wakrah have a bye.
The knockout stage will follow to decide the 2026-27 Men’s General League champion.
