WINSTON-SALEM, N.C : Arthur Fery rallied from a set down to reach the Winston-Salem Open semifinals with a 3-6, 7-5, 6-3 victory over Aleksandar Kovacevic on Thursday.
The fourth-seeded Briton, who reached his first ATP Tour semifinal last month, will make another appearance in the last four when he faces Australia’s James Duckworth.
Fery, then ranked No. 114 in the world, became the first unseeded British player in the Open Era to reach the Wimbledon semifinals before losing to Alexander Zverev.
His latest victory will lift him to a career-high ranking of at least No. 35 next week.
Fery hit 17 winners to Kovacevic’s 16 and benefited from 39 unforced errors by the American, compared with 20 by Fery.
Duckworth advanced with a 6-7(4), 6-2, 6-4 victory over 15th-seeded Fabian Marozsan of Hungary.
The other semifinal will feature third-seeded Ignacio Buse of Peru and France’s Benjamin Bonzi. Buse edged eighth-seeded Juan Manuel Cerundolo of Argentina 7-6(4), 4-6, 6-2, while Bonzi defeated 13th-seeded Botic van de Zandschulp 7-6(5), 6-4.
