LONDON : Liverpool have signed Uruguay defender Ronald Araujo from Barcelona on a season-long loan, the Premier League club said on Tuesday.
The 27-year-old will strengthen Liverpool’s defence ahead of the 2026-27 season following injuries to Giovanni Leoni and Jeremy Jacquet and the departure of Konate on a free transfer.
Araujo, who joined Barcelona in 2019, has signed a deal running until the end of the 2026-27 season, with an extension possible subject to an agreement with the Spanish club.
The Uruguay international made 24 LaLiga appearances last season as Barcelona won the title.
Liverpool finished fifth in the Premier League last season and qualified for the 2026-27 Champions League. They begin their league campaign away to Newcastle United on Aug. 23.
