DOHA : Qatar will take on Saudi Arabia on Sunday in the final game of the third window of the Asian qualifiers for the 2027 FIBA Basketball World Cup, with top spot in the group still up for grabs despite both teams having already secured progression.
Lebanon lead the standings with nine points, while Saudi Arabia and Qatar are level on eight. India are fourth with five points.
Although Lebanon, Saudi Arabia and Qatar have all advanced to the second round, the result carries added importance because results between qualified teams are carried forward into the next stage.
Qatar head into the game after a 65-56 away victory over India in Ahmedabad, recovering from a closely contested first half to pull clear after the break.
Saudi Arabia, meanwhile, suffered an 88-82 defeat to group leaders Lebanon in their previous outing after remaining in contention until the closing stages.
Qatar opened their qualifying campaign with a 75-74 home defeat to Lebanon before avenging that loss with an 86-83 away victory. They were beaten 86-80 by Saudi Arabia in Doha in their most recent meeting.
