PHILADELPHIA : Brazil coach Carlo Ancelotti said Neymar is close to making his long-awaited return to international football after the five-time world champions secured a 3-0 win over Haiti in their Group C match at the 2026 World Cup on Saturday.
Ancelotti praised his side’s all-round display and said the forward could be available for Brazil’s final group-stage match against Scotland in Miami on Wednesday, a game that could decide top spot in the group and influence the knockout-stage draw.
“Neymar’s recovery is progressing well,” Ancelotti told reporters after the match.
The 34-year-old has not played for Brazil since October 2023 and has been undergoing rehabilitation following a calf muscle injury. He recently returned to training as he steps up his recovery.
Ancelotti said Neymar would continue individual training on Sunday before rejoining the squad on Monday.
“If everything goes according to plan, he should be available for the match against Scotland,” the Italian said.
Brazil’s victory over Haiti strengthened their position in Group C ahead of the showdown with Scotland, with the group winner expected to earn a more favourable route through the knockout rounds.
