DOHA : Qatar Sports for All Federation (QSFA) will stage a new women’s indoor track race series at Aspire Zone this month as part of its efforts to encourage greater participation in sport and community activities among women and girls.
The series will be held over four rounds on June 6, 13, 20 and 26, with competitions open to participants from various age groups.
Athletes will compete in timed races, with winners determined by the highest number of laps completed within their allotted time. Organisers said the programme will also feature warm-up sessions and recreational activities led by qualified female coaches.
QSFA Executive Director Abdullah Al Dosari said the event forms a key part of the federation’s calendar aimed at expanding opportunities for women to engage in sport and adopt active lifestyles.
“The races are designed to promote regular physical activity and strengthen community engagement among women and girls,” Al Dosari said.
He added that Aspire Zone’s indoor facilities provide suitable conditions for sporting activities throughout the year, particularly during periods of high temperatures.
The initiative reflects Qatar’s continued efforts to increase access to grassroots sport and create inclusive environments that encourage participation across different segments of society.
The race series is expected to attract women and girls from across the country, combining competitive and recreational elements in a family-friendly setting.
