MUMBAI: Former India leg-spinner Sairaj Bahutule has been appointed by the BCCI as the men’s national team’s spin-bowling coach ahead of the one-off Test against Afghanistan in New Chandigarh, which begins on Saturday.
Bahutule brings extensive coaching experience across domestic, pathway and international cricket. During his coaching career, he has served as head coach of Vidarbha, Kerala, Gujarat and Bengal, earning a reputation as one of India’s respected cricket mentors.
The former spinner has also worked with IPL franchises, including Rajasthan and most recently Punjab during IPL 2026. His expertise in developing spin bowlers and nurturing young talent has made him a valuable addition to various coaching setups.
