DOHA : Julen Lopetegui has announced the final 26-man squad for the Qatar national football team ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
The squad complies with FIFA regulations allowing 26 players for the tournament and includes a blend of experienced internationals and players who helped establish Qatar as one of Asia’s leading teams.

Lopetegui omitted goalkeeper Shehab Al Laithi and midfielder Rayan Al Ali from the squad that lost 1-0 to the Republic of Ireland national football team in a friendly last week.
Earlier in the preparation phase, the Spanish coach had also trimmed his preliminary roster by excluding Sebastian Soria, Tarek Salman, Fahad Younis, Bassam Al Rawi, Mohammed Waad, Mubarak Shanan and Niall Mason.
Qatar are currently based in the United States for their final preparations and will face the El Salvador national football team in Los Angeles on June 6 in their last warm-up fixture.
Group B Schedule
The Qataris have been drawn in Group B alongside the Switzerland national football team, Canada national football team and Bosnia and Herzegovina national football team.
- June 13: Qatar vs Switzerland, San Francisco
- June 18: Qatar vs Canada, Vancouver
- June 24: Qatar vs Bosnia and Herzegovina, Seattle
Led by established stars such as Akram Afif, Almoez Ali and Hassan Al Haydos, Qatar will aim to advance beyond the group stage and improve on their debut World Cup appearance as hosts in 2022.
