MUMBAI : Internal divisions and dressing-room tensions have persisted at Mumbai Indians since the return of captain Hardik Pandya, according to a media report that suggested the franchise is increasingly concerned about leaks from within the team.
Hardik rejoined Mumbai Indians from Gujarat Titans ahead of the 2024 season and replaced Rohit Sharma as captain, a move that generated significant debate among fans and commentators.
According to a report in the Times of India, Mumbai Indians management is unhappy with information repeatedly emerging from inside the dressing room and is considering a stricter approach to internal discipline.
“Differences exist in almost every dressing room, but the division and bitterness at Mumbai Indians have been unusually high since Hardik returned,” the report quoted an unnamed official as saying.
The report added that the franchise could adopt a zero-tolerance policy towards dressing-room leaks following a period marked by public speculation, social media activity and scrutiny of player relationships.
Mumbai Indians, five-time champions of the Indian Premier League, have not won the title since 2020 under Rohit Sharma’s leadership.
The report’s claims have not been independently verified, and neither Mumbai Indians nor Hardik Pandya had publicly responded to the allegations at the time of publication.
