OSLO : Ada Hegerberg suffered a break-in at her home the night before OL Lyonnes faced FC Barcelona Femení in the women’s UEFA Women’s Champions League final, according to Norwegian broadcaster TV2.
Barcelona beat Lyon 4-0 in Saturday’s final in Oslo, with Hegerberg starting the match before being substituted in the second half.
“Unfortunately, Ada experienced a break-in at her home on Friday night and had to deal with it well into the night. This is not how you want to spend the night before a Champions League final,” a representative for her agency, A&V Sports, told TV2.
“Ultimately, we will never know what impact this had on her, but such is life.”
Hegerberg is the all-time top scorer in the Women’s Champions League with 69 goals and has won the competition six times with Lyon.
Her representative said they had not previously heard of a female footballer being targeted in a burglary, although similar incidents have affected several high-profile male players in recent years.
