DOHA : Mohammed bin Yousef Al Mana, first vice-president of the Qatar Olympic Committee, praised the fourth GCC Games Doha 2026 on Friday, describing the tournament as a major success both organisationally and competitively.
Al Mana said the Games reflected the strong ties between Gulf nations under the slogan “One Gulf, One Heart” and helped strengthen unity and friendship among young people across the region.
Speaking after the conclusion of the 12-day event, he said Qatar had once again demonstrated its ability to host major sporting events to the highest standards through its infrastructure and organisational expertise.
Al Mana also credited the support of Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani, president of both the Qatar Olympic Committee and the Olympic Council of Asia, for helping ensure the success of the Games.
Qatar finished top of the medal standings with a record 134 medals, including 48 gold, 50 silver and 36 bronze, marking the country’s best performance in the history of the Gulf Games.
Al Mana thanked participating delegations, organisers, volunteers and supporters for contributing to what he described as a memorable edition of the regional competition.
