DOHA : A Qatari refereeing team has been appointed to officiate Saturday’s 2026 Malaysia Cup final between Johor Darul Ta’zim FC and Kuching City FC, underlining the growing reputation of Qatari match officials in Asian football.
The officiating crew will be led by referee Mohammed Al Shammari, assisted by Yousef Aref Al Shammari and Khalid Ayed Khalaf, while Mishari Al Shammari will serve as VAR referee.
The appointment reflects continued confidence in Qatari officiating at continental and international level.
The Malaysia Cup, first staged in 1921, is one of Asia’s oldest football competitions.
