DOHA, May 15 (Reuters) – Qatar remained firmly on top of the medal standings at the 4th Gulf Games Doha 2026 after the fourth day of competition on Friday, increasing their tally to 82 medals.
The hosts have collected 30 gold medals, 26 silvers and 26 bronzes to maintain a comfortable advantage over the other participating Gulf nations.
Qatar enjoyed another productive day, winning 28 medals across swimming, athletics, shooting, fencing, billiards and equestrian events. Friday’s haul included nine gold medals, eight silvers and 11 bronzes.
Saudi Arabia sit second in the standings with 51 medals, including 20 gold, 15 silver and 16 bronze medals, while Bahrain are third with 41 medals made up of 16 golds, 17 silvers and eight bronzes.
Oman climbed to fourth place with 20 medals overall, including seven gold, three silver and 10 bronze medals.
The United Arab Emirates are fifth with 32 medals — six gold, nine silver and 17 bronze — while Kuwait are sixth with the same total of 32 medals, including four golds, 11 silvers and 17 bronzes.
Competition in Doha resumes on Saturday with events scheduled in athletics, shooting, snooker, padel, table tennis, volleyball and handball.
