DOHA : Qatar’s Bashar Hussein won the silver medal in the men’s 9-ball singles competition at the 4th Gulf Games Doha 2026 on Friday after losing 8-6 to the United Arab Emirates’ Mahmoud Sharif in the final.
The closely contested title match showcased strong performances from both players before Sharif edged ahead to secure gold.
Bashar reached the final after an impressive run through the tournament. He began with an 8-2 victory over Bahrain’s Haider Ali Yaqoub before defeating Kuwait’s Khalid Al Zarouni 8-5 in the next round.
In the semi-finals, the Qatari player overcame Saudi Arabia’s Abdulaziz Al Amoudi 8-6 to book his place in the championship match.
The 9-ball singles event featured 10 players from five Gulf nations — Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates — with each country represented by two competitors.
