DOHA : Qatar won two silver medals and one bronze in the boxing competition at the 4th GCC Games Doha 2026 on Thursday.
Mohammed Al Faqih claimed silver in the men’s 55kg category after losing 4-1 in the final to Saudi Arabia’s Mohannad Majrashi. Al Faqih had advanced to the gold medal bout with a convincing semi-final victory over the UAE’s Sultan Abdullah.
In the 75kg division, Mohammed Lasaad also settled for silver after a 4-1 defeat by Bahrain’s Ali Abdullah in the final.
Yousef Al Sayed secured Qatar’s third medal by taking bronze in the 60kg category.
Ghanem Saleh Al Kuwari, board member of the Qatar Boxing and Wrestling Federation, praised the performances of the Qatari fighters and described the medal haul as an encouraging result against strong regional opposition.
He said the achievement would provide added motivation for the development of boxing in Qatar at Gulf, continental and international levels.
