DOHA : Qatar women’s national 3×3 basketball team advanced to the semi-finals of the women’s 3×3 basketball tournament at the Gulf Games Doha 2026 after topping Group A with two victories.
Qatar opened their campaign with a 15-10 win over Oman before edging Kuwait 14-13 to finish first in the group with four points.
They will face Saudi Arabia, runners-up of Group B, in Tuesday’s semi-final, while Bahrain will meet Kuwait in the other last-four clash.
Bahrain topped Group B after defeating the United Arab Emirates 19-8 and Saudi Arabia 17-12, while Saudi Arabia secured second place with a 19-12 victory over the UAE.
The women’s tournament features six teams divided into two groups, with the top two from each advancing to the knockout stage.
In the men’s competition, Qatar men’s national 3×3 basketball team also booked a semi-final place after winning all three of their opening matches.
Qatar began with a dominant 22-9 victory over the UAE before beating Bahrain 21-15 and closing the day with a 21-7 win against Kuwait.
Bahrain defeated Saudi Arabia 16-13 and Kuwait 21-10 in other men’s matches, while the UAE beat Saudi Arabia 15-13.
Qatar lead the standings with three wins, followed by Bahrain with two victories and one defeat.
The men’s tournament is being contested in a single round-robin format featuring Qatar, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and the UAE, with the top four teams progressing to the semi-finals.
