Max Verstappen’s debut in the iconic 24h Nuerburgring has generated unprecedented demand, with organisers announcing that multi-day tickets for the endurance race have sold out for the first time.
The four-time Formula One world champion will take advantage of a free weekend in the F1 calendar to compete in a Mercedes-AMG GT3 for Team Verstappen Racing at Germany’s legendary Nuerburgring circuit.
Verstappen will share the car with Spanish driver Dani Juncadella, Frenchman Jules Gounon and Austrian Lucas Auer in the race, which starts on Saturday at the famed “Green Hell”.
“Weekend tickets sold out. For the first time in the history of the ADAC Ravenol 24h Nuerburgring,” the circuit said on its official X account.
“There will be no ticket sales at the box office on Saturday. Please do not travel without a valid ticket under any circumstances.”
Verstappen, who has won 71 Formula One grands prix, has previously raced at the Nuerburgring in smaller events to gain experience and impressed with his pace during qualifying races.
“The 24h Nuerburgring is a race that’s been on my bucket list for a long time, so I’m really thrilled we can make it happen now,” Verstappen said when his entry was confirmed in March.
Organisers said Verstappen’s participation had brought global attention to the race, though they also highlighted the depth of this year’s field, which features 161 entries — the largest grid in more than a decade.
The premier SP9 category, where Verstappen will compete for overall victory, includes cars from nine manufacturers: Aston Martin, Audi, BMW, Ferrari, Ford, Lamborghini, McLaren, Mercedes-AMG and Porsche.
First held in 1970, the endurance race takes place on a 25-kilometre layout that combines the historic Nordschleife with the modern grand prix circuit once used by Formula One.
