MUMBAI : Rohit Sharma marked his comeback in emphatic fashion, smashing 84 off 44 balls to lead Mumbai Indians to a stunning six-wicket win over Lucknow Super Giants in the Indian Premier League.
Returning after a five-match injury layoff, Rohit combined with Ryan Rickelton for a blistering opening stand that laid the foundation for Mumbai’s record chase at Wankhede Stadium.
Rickelton was the standout performer, hammering 83 off just 32 balls, including eight sixes, earning Player of the Match honors. Rohit matched the intensity with six fours and seven sixes, as the duo dismantled Lucknow’s bowling attack.
Earlier, Lucknow posted a formidable 228/5, powered by Nicholas Pooran’s explosive 63 off 21 balls and a steady 44 from Mitchell Marsh, with Himmat Singh adding 40.
Despite losing both openers, Mumbai stayed in control with key contributions from Tilak Varma and Suryakumar Yadav—who captained the side in the absence of Hardik Pandya.
Late cameos from Naman Dhir and Will Jacks sealed the chase with eight balls to spare, completing Mumbai’s highest successful run chase in IPL history.
Rickelton praised Rohit after the match:

The win ends Mumbai’s struggles during Rohit’s absence, though they remain ninth in the standings with six points from 10 games. Lucknow, meanwhile, slump to the bottom after a sixth consecutive defeat.
