WELLINGTON : Mitchell Santner will be out of action for around a month after suffering a left shoulder injury, New Zealand Cricket confirmed on Friday.
The all-rounder picked up the injury while fielding for Mumbai Indians during their heavy defeat to Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League last week.
Following specialist assessment after returning home, Santner has been advised to undergo a period of rest and rehabilitation.
The 34-year-old will miss New Zealand’s one-off Test against Ireland as well as the opening match of the three-Test series against England starting June 4. His availability for the remaining Tests will be reviewed later.
In the IPL, Santner has been replaced in the Mumbai Indians squad by Keshav Maharaj.
