SANYA: Qatar’s beach volleyball pair Cherif Younousse and Ahmed Tijan clinched the gold medal at the Asian Beach Games, defeating Iran in straight sets in the final.
The Qatari duo dominated from the outset, sealing victory 21–15, 21–12 with a commanding display of technical skill and physical strength.
The triumph completed an unbeaten run for Qatar throughout the tournament, reinforcing their position among Asia’s elite in beach volleyball.
Ali Ghanem Al Kuwari, president of the Qatar Volleyball Association, praised the achievement, describing it as the result of sustained efforts to develop the national team at all levels.
He said the victory would provide strong momentum for upcoming competitions and reaffirmed the federation’s commitment to maintaining high performance standards.
Al Kuwari also highlighted Qatar’s broader investment in sport, noting continued support for athlete development through grassroots expansion and enhanced international training programmes.
