Oklahoma, USA : Oklahoma City Thunder cruised to a 120-107 win over the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday to take a 2-0 lead in their first-round Western Conference playoff series, though an injury to Jalen Williams tempered celebrations.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the way with 37 points and nine assists, while Chet Holmgren added 19 points, eight rebounds and four blocks.
Williams, who has battled injuries this season, exited midway through the third quarter with a left hamstring issue after scoring 19 points on 7-of-11 shooting.
“We’ll take a look at it in the next couple of days,” Thunder coach Mark Daigneault said.
Oklahoma City seized control in the third quarter, with Gilgeous-Alexander and Holmgren combining to stretch the lead to as many as 26 points early in the fourth.
Phoenix rallied late to cut the deficit to 10, but a timely three-pointer from Ajay Mitchell halted the comeback.
“We did a really good job building the lead in the third,” Daigneault said. “It was a little wacky late, but overall a good performance.”
Dillon Brooks led the Suns with 30 points, including 13 in the fourth quarter, while Devin Booker was involved in a heated third-quarter exchange that resulted in a technical foul.
Suns coach Jordan Ott said his team needed better composure. “This is a playoff series, a lot happens. We can handle those moments better,” he said.
