DOHA : Qatar Athletics Federation will stage the Qatar Cup Athletics Championship on April 28-29 as part of preparations for upcoming international competitions, the governing body said.
In a statement released on social media, the federation confirmed the event will be dedicated to youth athletes, while the HH the Amir Cup Athletics Championship for men is scheduled for May 7-8.
The federation is currently organising the Federation Cup at Al Rayyan Club, featuring youth field events and men’s track competitions, with nine clubs taking part, including Al Sadd, Al Arabi and Al Gharafa.
The scheduling reflects Qatar’s broader athletics calendar, with national teams preparing for the World Youth Championships in the United States later this year, as well as regional events such as the Arab Championships in Tunisia from April 26-30.
Qatar is also set to host the upcoming Gulf Games in Doha next month, where athletics will feature prominently.
