LONDON : Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernández has returned to full training and is available for selection for Saturday’s Premier League match against Manchester United, manager Liam Rosenior said on Thursday.
The 25-year-old Argentina World Cup winner had been dropped for disciplinary reasons, missing the FA Cup quarter-final win over Port Vale and last week’s 3-0 league defeat to Manchester City.
“Enzo has been with the group and has been training very, very well,” Rosenior told reporters. “So, it’s business as usual in terms of selection for the game.”
Fernández, who had worn the captain’s armband in the absence of injured Reece James, had earlier sparked speculation about his future after comments about potentially moving abroad, for which he later apologised.
Rosenior also provided an update on defender Trevoh Chalobah, who has not featured since Chelsea’s Champions League exit to Paris Saint-Germain.
“Trevoh trained today but not quite fully; it was a modified training,” he said. “We’ll make a decision on him, but he’s very, very close. Reece is a little bit further away.”
Chelsea sit sixth in the table on 48 points, four behind Liverpool in the race for Champions League qualification, having won just one of their last five league matches.
“You focus on what you can control, which is our performance,” Rosenior added. “I expect a good performance on Saturday.”
