RIYADH: The draw for the 2027 AFC Asian Cup will now take place on May 9 in Saudi Arabia after being postponed due to regional tensions, the Asian Football Confederation confirmed.
Originally scheduled for April 11 in Riyadh, the draw was delayed to ensure full participation of all stakeholders. It will now be staged at the historic At-Turaif District in ad-Dir’iyah.
The 19th edition of the tournament is set to run from January 7 to February 5, with 23 of the 24 participating teams already confirmed. The final spot will be decided in a rescheduled Group B clash between Lebanon national football team and Yemen national football team on June 4.
Matches will be hosted across Riyadh, Jeddah, and Al Khobar, with the 24 teams to be drawn into six groups of four.
