Gujarat: Jos Buttler rediscovered his batting touch with a crucial half-century to guide Gujarat Titans to their first win of the season in a thrilling contest against Delhi Capitals.
The England star smashed 52 off just 27 balls, including five sixes, powering Gujarat to a formidable 210/4 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. His return to form came at the perfect time after a lean run of scores in recent months.
Buttler’s impact extended beyond batting. In a dramatic final-ball finish, with Delhi needing two runs to force a Super Over, David Miller missed a slow bouncer from Prasidh Krishna and attempted a desperate single. Buttler calmly gathered the ball and executed a sharp underarm throw to run out Kuldeep Yadav, sealing a narrow victory.
Reflecting on the moment, Buttler admitted there was an element of luck but expressed relief at getting both runs and a win on the board. After managing modest scores earlier in the tournament, the experienced batter emphasized patience and persistence as key to rediscovering form.
The victory lifts Gujarat Titans to sixth in the standings. They will look to build momentum when they face Lucknow Super Giants in their next match on Sunday.
