Nottingham, Britain : Chris Wood is set to return from a long-term injury, providing a major boost to both New Zealand national football team and his club Nottingham Forest ahead of the upcoming World Cup.
The 34-year-old striker has been out of action since October due to a knee injury and underwent surgery in December. His comeback was confirmed by Forest head coach Vitor Pereira, who stated that Wood has resumed full training and is available for selection ahead of their Europa League quarter-final clash against FC Porto.
Wood, the All Whites’ all-time leading scorer with 45 goals, previously represented New Zealand at the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
New Zealand have been drawn in Group G for the upcoming World Cup, where they will face Belgium national football team, Egypt national football team, and Iran national football team in June.
