LOS ANGELES: Demand for tickets to the 2026 World Cup has reached unprecedented levels after FIFA released additional seats to the general public in the final phase of sales, world soccer’s governing body said.
The latest ticket release followed the conclusion of the random selection draw phase, with FIFA saying global interest highlighted strong fan enthusiasm for the tournament, which will be held across the United States, Canada and Mexico in June and July.
The current sales window marks the fourth and final phase of the ticketing process, with tickets available on a first-come, first-served basis through FIFA’s official platform, subject to availability.
Fans can view available matches and seating categories in real time, select seats or opt for the “best available” option, and receive confirmation upon purchase. Ticket holders from earlier phases will be able to access seat details through their FIFA accounts from April 1.
FIFA said tickets may continue to be released periodically, including for matches on the day of play, depending on availability, and encouraged fans to check regularly for updates.
An official resale platform will also be launched on April 2, allowing eligible ticket holders to sell seats securely through FIFA’s website, helping to prevent counterfeit sales.
Hospitality packages, offering premium matchday experiences, remain available via FIFA’s official hospitality provider.
More than one million tickets were sold during the random selection phase alone, which drew over 500 million applications, according to FIFA.
With fewer than 80 days until kickoff, organisers expect the expanded 48-team tournament to challenge the record attendance of 3.5 million set at the 1994 World Cup.
FIFA also reminded fans that match tickets do not guarantee entry into host countries and advised supporters to check visa requirements for the United States, Canada and Mexico and apply in advance.
