DOHA : The semi-final playoff stage of the Qatar Men’s Basketball League will begin today following the resumption of domestic sporting activities after a temporary suspension caused by regional circumstances.
The opening “Final Four” games will be held at Al Gharafa Club Hall, with league leaders Al Rayyan taking on third-placed Al Ahli, who advanced through the play-in stage.
In the other semi-final, defending champions Al Arabi, who finished runners-up in the regular season, will meet fourth-placed Al Sadd, who also came through the play-in round.
The semi-finals will be played in a best-of-three format, with teams needing two wins to reach the final.
The second round of games is scheduled for Thursday, when Al Sadd will face Al Arabi before Al Ahli meet Al Rayyan.
If the series are level at 1-1, deciding third games will be played on Saturday to determine the finalists.
The season is due to conclude on March 28 with the third-place playoff followed by the final.
The Qatar Basketball Federation said all matches would be played behind closed doors, with attendance restricted to players, coaching and administrative staff, organisers and match officials.
