Novak Djokovic says he hopes to compete at the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, even though he will be 41 years old when the Games begin. 🎾
The Serbian star described winning the gold medal at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris—after defeating Carlos Alcaraz—as the greatest achievement of his career. Djokovic said defending that Olympic title remains one of his long-term motivations despite the challenges of age.
Djokovic, who owns 24 Grand Slam titles, also won a bronze medal at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. Britain’s Andy Murray is the only male player to successfully defend an Olympic singles gold medal.
At the Indian Wells Open, Djokovic returned to action after a five-week break and defeated Kamil Majchrzak 4–6, 6–1, 6–2 in the second round. The match was his first since a strong run at the Australian Open, where he notably beat Jannik Sinner in a dramatic five-set semi-final.
Djokovic admitted the windy desert conditions made his comeback match challenging but said he was pleased to return to competition. His next opponent at Indian Wells will be American Aleksandar Kovacevic.
