AHMEDABAD, INDIA : Glenn Phillips believes even the world’s best bowlers can have an off day and hopes that happens with Jasprit Bumrah when New Zealand national cricket team face India national cricket team in the final of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup on Sunday in Ahmedabad. 🏏
Bumrah once again showed his class in India’s dramatic semi-final victory over England cricket team in Mumbai, conceding just 33 runs in four overs in a match that produced 449 runs and 34 sixes at Wankhede Stadium.
India opener Sanju Samson even described Bumrah as a “once-in-a-generation” bowler after the match, saying he deserved the player-of-the-match award.
Phillips acknowledged Bumrah’s quality but said New Zealand must stay adaptable in the final. He noted that while the Indian pacer has exceptional variations and deadly accuracy in the death overs, every bowler is still human and can occasionally miss his mark.
Around 100,000 fans are expected to fill Narendra Modi Stadium for the final, mostly supporting the home side. Phillips said pitch conditions and dew could play a role, but New Zealand will adjust quickly as they chase their first limited-overs World Cup title.
