DOHA : Winners of the table tennis tournament for people with disabilities were crowned on an exceptional night at the 12th edition of the Ramadan Sports Festival 2026, organised by Aspire Zone Foundation.

The competition, one of the festival’s highlights, concluded in a spirited atmosphere that underscored the growing prominence of inclusive sport in Qatar. More than 85 players competed across categories for athletes with visual, intellectual, hearing and physical impairments, making it one of the few specialised Ramadan tournaments of its kind in the country.

Matches were played before an enthusiastic crowd, with participants showcasing strong technical levels, focus and determination in contests that reflected the festival’s “Sport for All” ethos.

Officials from Aspire Zone Foundation and representatives of disability sports bodies crowned the winners and presented medals and trophies.

In the visual impairment category, Ahmed Al-Kubaisi won gold, ahead of Mohammed Al-Ghashi and Al-Gharib Sami. Salman Sher claimed gold in the intellectual disability category, with Muhammad Musa second and Muhammad Hosni third.

Khobeh Abdel Rashid topped the hearing impairment podium, followed by Abdel Skir Ibrahim and Mohamed Shehab El Din. In the standing physical disability category, Dr. Mustafa Amin took gold, with Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Saadi second and Muhammad Daloul third. Ismail Yousef won the sitting physical disability category, ahead of Ahmed Mohammed and Abdulrahman Faqih.

Embassies Championship Delivers Goals

The Embassies Football Championship has also produced high-scoring encounters, with 24 teams divided into eight groups competing at Aspire’s Pitch No. 4 through March 6.

Recent results saw Sudan defeat Eritrea 3-2 in Group G, Egypt beat Iran 5-1 in Group H, and Senegal overcome South America 7-4 in Group A.

Group-stage matches continue through March 1, with the knockout rounds beginning on March 2 and the final scheduled for March 6.

Staff Tournament and Junior Events Underway

The Aspire Staff Football Championship kicked off at Stadium No. 5 with six teams split into two groups. Aspetar United defeated Aspire Warriors 7-0, while Aspire Falcons beat Sports Relations 4-1 on the opening day.

The festival programme also expands this week to include junior basketball at the Ladies Sports Hall and swimming competitions at the Hamad Aquatic Complex. Men’s hockey events conclude this week, followed by women’s hockey, beach volleyball, padel and women’s futsal tournaments, as the multi-sport celebration continues throughout Ramadan.
