DOHA: Al Sadd extended their winning streak in the Doha Bank Stars League to eight matches with a 3-1 victory over Al Wakrah at the Saoud bin Abdulrahman Stadium on Sunday.
Pedro Miguel put Al Sadd ahead in the ninth minute before Brazilian forward Roberto Firmino doubled the lead in first-half stoppage time. Spaniard Rafa Mujica added a third in the 57th minute to put the result beyond doubt.
Al Wakrah pulled one back through Moroccan forward Amine Zouhzouh in the 72nd minute, but it proved little more than a consolation.
The win lifted Al Sadd to 35 points at the top of the standings after 16 matches, while Al Wakrah remained seventh on 22 points.
