DOHA : Moroccan midfielder Idriss Fettouhi said Al-Ahli achieved their primary objective by securing a place in the quarter-finals of the AFC Champions League 2 following a 1-0 extra-time victory over Iran’s Sepahan.
Al-Ahli progressed after striker Omar Sekou scored early in extra time in the second leg of their round-of-16 tie on Wednesday.
“We wanted to finish the match in normal time, but we couldn’t,” Fettouhi said after the game. “The match went to extra time and it required a great effort from everyone. Thanks to the determination and solidarity of all the players, we managed to achieve the win.”
