KUWAIT: Qatar’s Al Rayyan won a fourth consecutive West Asian Men’s Volleyball Championship title after defeating Bahrain’s Dar Kulaib 3-1 in Saturday’s final at the Kuwait Volleyball Federation Hall.
The victory secured Al Rayyan a place in the Asian Champions League as West Asia’s representative, with the continental tournament set to be held in Indonesia in May.
Al Rayyan sealed the title with set scores of 25-22, 25-22, 13-25 and 25-18, delivering a composed performance in a closely contested match in which runners-up Dar Kulaib mounted a strong challenge.
The trophy and gold medals were presented by Ali Ghanem Al Kuwari, President of the Qatari and West Asian volleyball federations and Vice President of the Asian Volleyball Confederation, alongside Sheikh Ali bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, President of the Arab and Bahraini volleyball federations, and Khalid bin Ali Al Ghanem, President of Kuwait SC.
Dar Kulaib received the silver medals, while Kuwait SC took bronze.In the third-place playoff, Kuwait SC defeated Al Ahli of Bahrain in straight sets, 25-23, 25-16 and 25-21, leaving Al Ahli fourth overall.
Al Rayyan’s general supervisor for volleyball, Nasser Al Maliki, hailed the triumph as an exceptional achievement, praising the collective effort behind the club’s continued dominance.
