Moreno targets another Al Wakrah win ahead of Al Ahli clash

DOHA, Feb — Al Wakrah coach Vicente Moreno is aiming to build momentum in the Doha Bank Stars League when his side face Al Ahli in the fifteenth round of matches.

The Spanish coach said his team had prepared well for what he expects to be a tough encounter, pointing to the quality within the Al Ahli squad.

“We know it will be a difficult match because we are facing a strong team with very high-level players such as Julian Draxler, Youssef Msakni, Michel Flap and others,” Moreno said. “But it will also be difficult for them.”

Moreno added that Al Wakrah recently strengthened their squad, although the new signings will need time to settle in.

“We brought in new players this week and they need time to adapt,” he said. “Overall, we are happy to be back to winning ways. It’s important to keep working and our goal is to win again to further improve our position in the standings. It’s still too early to talk about the top four — we have to take it one match at a time.”

Al Wakrah player Youssef Abdel-Razzaq echoed his coach’s confidence, saying the team is determined to secure all three points despite expecting a challenging match.

“The game will be difficult, but we are confident in our ability to overcome Al Ahli,” Abdel-Razzaq said. “We need to put in more effort than we did in the last match, even though we played well. We must have greater self-belief and trust in our abilities if we want to keep moving forward.”
