DOHA: The Qatar Golf Association has announced the completion of all preparations to host the 29th edition of the Qatar Masters Golf Championship, which tees off on Thursday and runs until next Sunday at the Doha Golf Club.
The prestigious tournament will feature 144 elite professional golfers from around the world and carries a prize purse of USD 2.75 million.
Press Conference Outlines Tournament Details
The announcement was made during a press conference held on Tuesday, attended by Hamad Abdullah Al-Mana, President of the Qatar Golf Association; Fahad Nasser Al-Nuaimi, Secretary General; Mohammed Faisal Al-Nuaimi, Board Member; Tom Phillips, CEO of the European Tour Middle East; and Michael Erikson, Tournament Director at the European Tour.
Strong Qatari Presence in the Field
Qatar will be represented by Ali Al-Shahrani, Saleh Al-Kaabi, and Daniel Duclough, all of whom have completed extensive preparations and are aiming to advance deep into the tournament amid strong international competition.
Al-Mana: Tournament a Cornerstone of Qatar’s Sports Calendar
Hamad Abdullah Al-Mana described the Qatar Masters as one of the main pillars of Qatar’s sports agenda, underlining its importance and long-standing position among major international sporting events.
He noted that the championship reflects Qatar’s growing stature as a global hub for hosting major tournaments, contributes to the development of golf, supports sports tourism, and encourages youth participation in sporting activities.
Continuous Development and Global Reach
Fahad Nasser Al-Nuaimi said the 29th edition continues Qatar’s legacy of hosting top-tier golf events, highlighting the steady development seen from one edition to the next.
He expressed confidence that Qatari players will deliver a distinguished performance this year, noting that they participated in a preparatory training camp last September and competed in several local and international tournaments.
Al-Nuaimi also revealed that the championship will feature family- and children-friendly entertainment activities, promoted through social media, and will be broadcast on 25 to 28 international channels for four hours daily, reaching an estimated global audience of nearly 800 million viewers, according to European Golf Association reports.

Al-Nuaimi extended his gratitude to the Qatar Olympic Committee for its continued support, the European Golf Association for its cooperation—particularly in this edition—and to the tournament’s sponsoring companies.
Doha Golf Club Course Fully Ready
Mohammed Faisal Al-Nuaimi confirmed that the Doha Golf Club course is fully prepared following recent development works, describing it as one of the finest courses in the Middle East.
He added that the Qatar Masters remains one of the most important stops on the European Tour and among the most attractive tournaments for global golfing talent, having achieved sustained success since its inception in 1998.
European Tour Officials Praise Organization
Tom Phillips affirmed that all arrangements have been finalized, predicting a highly competitive championship marked by intense challenges among participants.
He noted that the tournament’s continuity over 29 years reflects its success and its significant role in promoting golf across the Middle East.
Michael Erikson highlighted the Qatar Masters as one of the European Tour’s most prominent events, citing its high organizational standards and its ability to attract world-class golfers, including former champions.
Pro-Am Tournament Kicks Off on Wednesday
Ahead of the main event, the Pro-Am Tournament will take place on Wednesday, featuring amateur golf enthusiasts alongside professional stars competing in the Qatar Masters.
Each group will consist of four players—three amateurs representing sponsoring institutions and one professional golfer—offering international stars a final competitive rehearsal and an opportunity to familiarize themselves with the course and tournament atmosphere.
