Doha: The organising committee for the second edition of the Qatar Olympic Committee Half Marathon 2026 and Al-Adaam Village unveiled the latest organisational, logistical and technical preparations during a press conference on Monday.
The annual sporting event, which includes the half marathon, short-distance races and Al-Adaam Village activities, is scheduled to take place on February 10, 2026, to mark the country’s Sports Day.
The press conference, held at Lusail Hall at the Qatar Olympic Committee headquarters, was attended by Sheikh Abdullah bin Saud Al Thani, chairman of the marketing committee of the organising committee; Ahmed Al Jaber, chairman of the technical committee for the 2026 Half Marathon; Maha Dahawi Al Shammari, director of public relations and communication at the Ministry of Labour; Abdullah Ibrahim Al Fakhro, director of security and logistics at Qatari Diar Real Estate Investment Company; Ahmed Hassan Al Mahasneh, senior director of marketing and communication at Qatar Development Bank; and representatives of the media.
The conference opened with welcoming remarks from Abdullah Mohammed Al-Marri, the conference director, who highlighted the importance of the event as an annual milestone reflecting the Qatar Olympic Committee’s commitment to promoting sports culture and encouraging community participation as part of the Sports Day celebrations.
Half marathon and short-distance races
Al Jaber outlined the technical details of the event, including race categories and routes designed to accommodate participants of all ages. He announced a new course for the half marathon (21 km) and 10 km races, which will head towards the Qetaifan Island Corniche and finish at Lusail Trail.
He added that the half marathon will start at 6:00 a.m., while Al-Adaam Village activities will begin at 7:00 a.m. He said the event will adhere to the highest safety and medical standards under the supervision of referees and volunteers, with valuable prizes to be awarded to winners.
