DOHA – Sheikh Thani bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani, chairperson of the Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD), crowned the top three finishers in the Grand Prix of the fourth round of the inaugural HH the Father Amir Equestrian Prix, which concluded on Saturday at the Longines Arena at Al Shaqab.
The event brought together some of the world’s leading riders and offered prize money exceeding 3.3 million euros.
In the five-star Grand Prix, featuring 160cm jumps and a jump-off, Britain’s Scott Brash claimed victory with a time of 52.97 seconds. France’s Megane Moissonnier finished second, while Switzerland’s Nadja Peter Steiner took third.
The final day of competition was staged across the Longines outdoor and indoor arenas at Al Shaqab, a member of Qatar Foundation, with Grand Prix events held in three categories. The outdoor arena hosted the three-star (150cm) and five-star (160cm) classes, while the indoor arena staged the one-star Grand Prix at 130cm.
In the five-star 150cm category, Britain’s Harry Charles secured first place in 32.02 seconds, ahead of Portugal’s Duarte Seabra and Germany’s Philipp Weishaupt.
Saudi Arabia’s Abdullah Al Sharbatly won the three-star 150cm Grand Prix with a jump-off time of 34.73 seconds, finishing ahead of Germany’s Janne Friederike Zimmermann, with Weishaupt again placing third.
Italian rider Emanuele Gaudiano topped the three-star 140cm class in 54.45 seconds, followed by American Kristin Vanderveen and Brazil’s Marlon Modolo. In the three-star 130cm class, South Africa’s Oliver Lazarus finished first, Egypt’s Abdullah Haitham was second, and Qatar’s Ghanem Nasser Al Qadi placed third.
In the one-star category at 130cm, Qatari rider Ali Omar Al Ansari won the Grand Prix title, ahead of Egypt’s Mohamed Farid and Qatar’s Mohammed Yousef Al Jaber. Estonia’s Meriel Isok claimed victory in the one-star 120cm class.
In the junior 110cm category, Hala Al Rashid took first place, while Qatar’s Ali Khalid Al Obaidli finished second. The local 100cm class was won by Al Qaqa’a bin Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani.
Executive Director of the Doha Equestrian Tour Khalifa Al Attiyah said the HH the Father Amir Cup had enjoyed a highly successful inaugural edition, marking a strong start to the 2026 Doha Equestrian Tour. He noted that more than 400 riders from 38 countries competed across four rounds, adding that the success reflected strong organisational coordination and cooperation among local and international stakeholders.
Al Attiyah added that the championship featured four international rounds for the one-star and five-star categories, alongside events for juniors and youth, as well as several rounds qualifying for the finals of the seventh group of the International Equestrian Federation.
