DOHA : Al Shamal and Al Sailiya played out a 0-0 draw at Al Shamal Stadium on Saturday in the 14th round of the Doha Bank Stars League.
Al Shamal, aiming to consolidate their hold on third place, pressed from the outset and repeatedly tested Al Sailiya goalkeeper Fahad Younis. Their best chance came in the 30th minute when referee Abdul Aziz Jassim awarded a penalty after Younis fouled Mohammed Manaei and was shown a yellow card. Baghdad Bounedjah stepped up but saw his spot kick saved by Younis.
Al Sailiya threatened on the counter in the first half through Jordan international Ali Alwan, but neither side found a breakthrough before the interval.
The second half produced few clear chances as both teams struggled to create openings. Al Shamal continued to push, but failed to capitalise even after Al Sailiya were reduced to 10 men when Younis Belhanda was sent off in the 75th minute for a second booking. Mohammed Waad was later shown a red card in stoppage time, as the match ended in a goalless draw.
