DOHA: The fourth and final round of HH the Father Amir Prix 2026 got underway on Thursday at Al Shaqab’s Longines outdoor and indoor arenas.
The round features eight events across one-, three- and five-star categories, in addition to a local 60cm class, with more than 240 riders competing for prize money exceeding €3.3 million.
Competition on the opening day included the three-star 135cm and 140cm classes, followed by the first five-star events at 140cm and 150cm on the main outdoor Longines arena. At the same time, the secondary outdoor arena hosted the three-star 125cm and one-star 110cm events, while the indoor arena staged the one-star 120cm and local 60cm classes.
Austrian rider Max Kohner won the five-star 150cm event in 65.91 seconds on Grace, finishing ahead of Britain’s Scott Brash (66.56s) on Hello Jefferson and Portugal’s Duarte Cipra (67.98s) on Verinhel. The prizes were presented by Badr bin Mohammed Al Darwish, president of the Qatar Equestrian Federation.
American rider Christine Vanderveen dominated the three-star 135cm class, clocking 30.46 seconds on Lionis, followed by Qatari Suhaim Hamad Al Yafei (30.78s) on Flash and Iraq’s Zaid Ali (34.43s) on Querani. Vanderveen also claimed victory in the three-star 125cm and five-star 140cm events.
Elsewhere, France’s Lara Treba won the three-star 140cm in 24.73 seconds on Flash de Taima. Saudi riders topped the one-star classes, with Fahad Al Shammari winning the 110cm event and Khalid Al Hadi taking first place in the 120cm. The local 60cm class was won by Fatima Khaled Al Salem in 39.04 seconds.
HH the Father Amir Prix 2026 comprises four international rounds from one- to five-star level, alongside junior and youth competitions. The second, third and fourth rounds act as qualifiers for the FEI Group VII Finals.
The inaugural edition is jointly organised by the Qatar Equestrian Federation, Al Shaqab and the Qatar Olympic Committee, with Qatar Airways serving as an official partner.
