FLORIDA: U.S. sprinter Sha’Carri Richardson was arrested on Thursday in Orange County, Florida, and charged with dangerous excessive speeding, the Orange County Sheriff’s Department said.
Richardson was stopped by a traffic enforcement officer after traveling at 104 mph (167 kph), with deputies saying she was dangerously tailgating and weaving across lanes to pass other motorists.
The 25-year-old Olympic gold medallist was booked on a charge of dangerous excessive speeding, according to the department.USA Track & Field did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Richardson won silver in the 100 metres at the Paris Olympics and was part of the United States’ gold medal-winning 4×100 metres relay team.
She was also arrested in Seattle last July on a domestic violence allegation involving fellow sprinter Christian Coleman at an airport security checkpoint.
