DOHA: Paris Saint-Germain booked their place in the final of the Al Kass International Cup after edging Aspire Academy 5-4 on penalties following a 2-2 draw in regulation time on Monday.
The semi-final at Mansour Muftah Stadium saw PSG take the lead through Ali Karim in the 16th minute before Aspire hit back, with Osama Mohammed equalising in the 64th minute. Jose Da Silva restored PSG’s advantage two minutes later, but Diaa El Din Ben Yatla struck deep into stoppage time (80+3) to force a shootout, which the French side won.
PSG will face Barcelona in the final after the Spanish club defeated Morocco’s Mohammed VI Academy 3-1 in the other semi-final. Hugo Lognas scored twice for Barcelona in the eighth and 60th minutes, with Ruslan Hernando adding a third in the 59th. Elias Al Bayan netted the lone goal for Mohammed VI Academy in the 15th minute.
Aspire Academy will meet Mohammed VI Academy in the third-place match on Thursday.
