BOURNEMOUTH: Bournemouth midfielder Amine Adli struck deep into second-half stoppage time to hand Liverpool a crushing 3-2 defeat on Saturday, condemning the reigning champions to their seventh Premier League loss of the season and leaving them still without a league win in 2026.

Adli’s dramatic winner came in the 95th minute after a chaotic scramble from a long throw, sparking protests from Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk, who felt he had been fouled in the build-up. Despite dominating much of the second half, Liverpool once again paid the price for defensive lapses at crucial moments.

“Losing never feels good, especially as a Liverpool player, and in the season we’re trying to find consistency,” Van Dijk told Sky Sports after the match.

Bournemouth had stunned the visitors early, racing into a 2-0 lead through goals from Evanilson and Alejandro Jimenez inside the opening 33 minutes. Van Dijk headed Liverpool back into the contest before the break, and Dominik Szoboszlai appeared to have salvaged another draw with a superb free kick in the 80th minute.

However, just as Liverpool looked set for a fifth consecutive league draw, Adli’s late intervention shattered those hopes, sending the Reds back to Merseyside empty-handed and under increasing pressure as their search for form continues.
