DOHA : Qatari champions Al Sadd will meet Emirati side Shabab Al Ahli on Saturday in the third edition of the Qatari-Emirati Super Shield, with Al Sadd holding a clear edge in previous head-to-head meetings.
The match will be played at Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium, with the 2026 Super Cup title at stake. The previous edition of the competition saw Al Sadd face Al Wasl, with Al Wasl lifting the trophy.
Al Sadd are bidding to win the title in their second appearance in the third edition of the tournament and arrive with a strong record against Shabab Al Ahli. The sides have met seven times, all in the AFC Champions League, with Al Sadd winning four matches, Shabab Al Ahli one, and two ending in draws.
Al Sadd’s dominance extends beyond this fixture. The Doha club have faced Emirati teams 32 times across competitions, recording 10 wins, five defeats and 17 draws.
Al Sadd will look to add another trophy at the expense of Shabab Al Ahli and further extend their historical advantage over clubs from the United Arab Emirates.
