DOHA: Umm Salal Sports Club have announced the dismissal of French head coach Patrice Carteron from his role as manager of the club’s first football team, bringing an end to his second spell in charge.
In a statement published on the club’s official X account on Thursday, Umm Salal confirmed the conclusion of Carteron’s tenure and thanked him for his efforts and professionalism during his time with the team.
Carteron was reappointed in June last year, returning to the club after an initial spell that began in July 2023. He left Umm Salal in November 2024 to take up a position with Iranian side Sepahan Isfahan before making his comeback months later.
The decision comes amid a difficult season for Umm Salal, whose performances have dipped significantly. After 13 rounds of the Qatar Stars League, the team sits at the bottom of the table in 12th place with just nine points, prompting the club to seek a change as it looks to revive its campaign.
