Doha : Qatar won the gold medal in the mixed team trap event and set a new Asian and world record on Wednesday as the Asian Shotgun Championships Doha 2026 concluded at the Lusail Shooting Complex.
The 11-day championships featured 196 male and female shooters from 17 countries, competing across skeet and trap disciplines in senior, junior and mixed team events.
Qatar’s Mohammed Al-Rumaihi and Kholoud Al-Khalaf topped the mixed team trap final with 30 hits from 40 targets, edging teams from Kuwait and Chinese Taipei to secure gold and set new continental and world benchmarks. Kuwait’s Talal Al-Rashidi and Sarah Al-Hawal claimed silver, while Chinese Taipei’s Kai Pang-chan and Lin Yu-hsin took bronze.
The victory lifted Qatar’s overall medal haul to eight — four gold and four silver — including six medals in skeet and two in trap. Earlier in the championships, Qatar also won gold in junior individual skeet, men’s team skeet and mixed team skeet, while adding silvers across junior, women’s and team events.
Officials from the Qatar Olympic Committee and the Qatar Shooting and Archery Federation hailed the results as a major boost ahead of upcoming Asian and world competitions.
