DOHA – Organisers of the “Strongest Man in Qatar 2026” championship will hold a technical meeting with 11 finalists ahead of the competition’s opening on Friday, the organising committee said.
The meeting comes as part of preparations for the first edition of the Gulf Challenge, with events set to begin at 3:00 p.m. in the parking area opposite the open fields at Aspire Park.
The tournament will feature competitors from Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia.
Athletes will compete in a series of demanding strength challenges, including carrying weights of up to 350 kg, lifting 140-kg sandbags onto elevated platforms at speed, flipping a 350-kg tyre, and completing a medley event weighing up to 125 kg. The competition will conclude with a truck-pull challenge involving a vehicle weighing 15.5 tonnes.
Aspire Zone Foundation said it has succeeded in establishing the championship as a prominent annual fixture on Qatar’s sporting calendar, attracting elite athletes and providing a platform for fans of strength and endurance sports. The event has grown in popularity as part of the Foundation’s broader mission to promote physical fitness, health and well-being through sport.
Alongside the competition, Aspire Zone Foundation will organise a range of family-oriented activities in a dedicated fan zone, including sports activities for children and outlets offering local food and products, creating an integrated entertainment experience for spectators.
